CARES Act Resource Guide

In part, the new CARES Act, signed into law March 27, includes:

  1. The Small Business Paycheck Protection Program including 100% government guaranteed loans that can be used to cover payroll and other general overhead expenses during the pandemic. These loans are eligible for forgiveness.
  2. General Business Financing providing $454 billion for secured loans through the Federal Reserve to larger businesses, states, and municipalities.
  3. General Business Tax Provisions such as refundable payroll tax credits, employer payroll tax delays, and various additional tax provision amendments to allow businesses access to liquidity.
  4. Unemployment Insurance Enhancements, qualifying individuals that are typically ineligible for unemployment benefits and enhancing the benefit by an additional $600 per week. This program also provides funding to support "short term compensation programs."
